Philadelphia's Historic District
The Philadelphia
Historic District is where our county was born. In the early 1700’s the City of
Philadelphia was expanding westward from its founding by William Penn just fifty
years earlier. In 1732 construction begun on Independence Hall. Some 40 years
later our country’s founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence and
a new nation was born. Contained within the Historic District is Independence
Hall, the Liberty Bell, and the Betsy Ross house. Today, the preservation of
this districts buildings, taverns, and cobble stone walks are enjoyed by all.
